Major shake in Dolphins FC and Sharks FC
After a disappointing 2014/2015 league season Sharks FC and its city rival Dolphins FC will undergo a major surgical operation to re-position the teams.
The revelation was made by the State’ Commissioner for Sports, Mr.Boma Iyaye during a meeting with the players in Port Harcourt yesterday.
The Commissioner conveyed to the team the Governor, Nyesom Wike displeasure over the teams woeful performance in the just concluded 2014/2015 season.
Dolphins FC maintained their stay in the premiership after drawing 2 all with 3SC on the last day of the season while Sharks departure from the elite division was confirmed before the last day of the season.
Speaking, Mr Iyaye said "The Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike is unhappy with the performances of the two clubs in the just concluded season.
"We are talking about taxpayers' monies used in the funding of these football clubs and the least we expect is creditable displays from the two sides.
"As a result of the underwhelming performances last season, we have taken stock and decided on a total overhaul of the two clubs with a view to putting Rivers State on the national map next season.
"Those who performed well will be allowed to stay on and those who did not will be asked to leave.
