Chelsea to offer Mikel Obi new contract


Following his recent grade A performance Nigerian midfielder, John Obi Mikel could be offered a new contract by Chelsea .
Mikel. Hehas been a fringe player while Jose Mourinho was in charge, but the Portuguese’s sacking and the return of Hiddink has seen a revival in the 28-year-old, who yesterday started and played 82 minutes of Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup.
He also scored an away goal in the Blues’ first leg, last 16 clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League last week.

  Mikel has been a regular figure in Chelsea first team line upthe preferred starters in the engine room.

He recently expressed desire to see Coach Guss Hiddink continue at Stamford Bridge saying: “I want him to stay but it's the choice of the owner and the club but if you speak to the players, 98 99 per cent of them want him to stay. We're very happy, performing well and long may it continue.
As a result, Chelsea are weighing up a new deal for the Nigerian, who has 15 months left on his current contract at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel has been at Chelsea since 2006 and has made over 350 appearances for the London club, winning two Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the UEFA Champions League amongst other honours.
