Suspected Militants Blow up Gas Pipeline in Sagamu

There is no let down in the attack on the country's  petroleum infrastructure as suspected Niger Delta militants  blow up a gas pipeline at PZ Estate in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State on Tuesday night.
The suspects gained unrestricted access to the pipeline as they pose Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)  officials on routine maintenance checks.
The deception came to the notice of the residents and security official however, when the pipeline was blown up by the militants long after leaving the environment using remote sensor controller.
The incident, which has heightened tension among residents, was a new twist in the militant attacks ravaging some borderline communities in the state. New Telegraph gathered that the destruction of the gas pipeline occurred on Tuesday night.
The explosion  created panic among people of the community as it was just last month when suspected militants attacked some border communities in Lagos and Ogun State .
Speaking with journalists, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident. Adejobi said the command had already deployed its men to the area, adding that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the suspects.
He said: “Some hoodlums on Tuesday went and burst a part of a gas pipeline around PZ Area in Ogijo. “We heard that they came as if they were officials of a company in charge of the maintenance of the gas pipeline, and the residents were deceived by this ploy. “We don’t want to conclude yet that they were militants, but we call them criminals, and we will get them wherever they are. “The command had deployed men to the area and we are working with other sister security agencies.
the affected pipeline serves an 11.4 distribution line for some companies in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
