Gianni Infatino is new FIFA president

FIFA new President Gianni Infantino

Switzerland's Gianni Infantino has been elected tas the new FIFA president in Zurich.
He defeated four other candidates in an election that went into a second round.
Infantino got 115 of the 207 eligible votes to take a decisive majority ahead of Sheikh Salman of Bahrain who polledt 88 votes, Prince Ali of Jordan had four, and Jerome Champagne of France got zero.
It comes after the organisation announced reforms designed to repair Fifa's reputation and prevent future misdemeanours have been passed by Congress members.
The reforms include the Fifa president and council members serving a maximum of three four-year terms.
In a acceptance speech,  "sad times and crisis", but said: "Those times are over, now we need to go forward."
Mr Infantino, a Swiss lawyer of Italian origin, thanked the other candidates and the members of the Congress who voted.
"I cannot express my feelings in this moment,  We will restore Fifa and the image of Fifa. We have to be proud of Fifa and everybody has to be proud of Fifa."
