CAF Champions League: Enyimba demolish Vital'O 5-1, Wolves fell 1-0
Enyimba International of Aba today at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium in Port Harcourt made a mince meat of visiting Vital'O lads of Burundi in the CAF Champions League 1st leg last 32game.
The Elephants trampled upon the visitors in a 5-1 demolition.
Enyimba who went into the game with poor runs in the domestic league put their visitors on edge throughout the game. The Vital'O defence was helpless before the attacking force of the home team.
The superiority of the home team was stamped with an opening goal by Stephen Chukwude shot from outside the 18 yard box in the 21st minute.
Hardly had the Burundians recovered from the first goal than another one hit the back of the net three minutes after courtsy Mfon Udo.
The onslaught produced another goal in the 37th minute when Stephen Chukwude got a brace.
A second brace was recorded at the 56th minute by a solo effort play by Mfon Udoh of Enyimba as his shot from the left flank of the 18 yard box past the helpless goalkeeper of Vita O into the back of the net.
Vital'O came into the second half more business like adding bite to their attack and reduce the goal by one by Theophilus Afelikhai in the 71st minute before Ugochukwu Leonard (85) ensured each alphabet in the visitors name has a goal attached to wrap it up 5-1.
In a repeat of the score in Nigeria, Wydad of Morocco coach John Toshack, the former Liverpool striker and twice Real Madrid manager, watched his team demolish CNaPS Sport of Madagascar 5-1 in Casablanca.
While n a sharp shift from the event in Port Harcourt Warri Wolves, another Nigeria representative, fell 1-0 to defaet to Al Merikh of Sudan in Warri.
Vita Club of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the 2014 runners-up,piped Ferroviario Maputo of Mozambique 1-0 in Kinshasa.
