Re-run Elections:PDP sweeps all seats in the Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers elections

The Peoples Democratic Party has once again stamped their dominance in the South outh region as the will the whole seats in the recently conducted Appeal court ordered rerun elections in Akaw Ibom and Cross Rivers State over the weekend.
In the Senatorial election Akwa Ibom North East, Mr. Bassey Albert polled 256,110 votes to beat Mr. Emmanuel Obot, of APC, who came a distant second  with 36, 775, and Mr. Ubong Edet of Accord (6,368 votes).
According to the Nation,  in the five Federal Constituencies conducted, all seats were won by the Peoples Democratic Party, Aniekan Uko, PDP, won in Ibesikpo/Asutan  with 10, 288; Mr. Gabriel Akpan of APC, 1,955 votes, while Utibe John of Accord and Linda Sunday of PPA scored 13 and 12 votes.

In Oron/Udung Uko, PDP candidate Effiong Bassey got 7,625 votes to beat the Labour Party candidate, Mr. Jerimaiah Okon, who scored 17 votes.

Itu  Constituency,PDP’s candidate Idongesit Ituan polled 12, 043 votes to beat Idongesit Ekpaya of the APC, who scored 2, 938.

In Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara; PDP swept the poll as Idongesit Ntekpere scored 23,900 votes to defeat, APC candidaate  Augustine Mbeh, who polled 2,428 votes.

In a statement by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Gabriel Ada, the election was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.

He said the commission was grateful to the people, adding that certificates shall be issued by the commission according to the law.

In the meantime the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Eteng Jonah Williams has emerged winner in the rerun election conducted on Saturday for the Yakurr II State Constituency of the Cross River House of Assembly.
